Ranked Choice Voting
A presentation in partnership with the League of Women Voters of the City of New York
In 2019, the voters of New York City passed a ballot initiative approving Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in special and primary elections for Mayor, Public Advocate, Comptroller, Borough Presidents, and City Council offices, beginning in 2021. In the upcoming June 2021 primaries, and in four special elections, voters in NYC will now use RCV for the first time. With RCV, you will have the opportunity to rank up to five (5) candidates in order of your preference.
Join us to learn how RCV works, how it might affect your thinking as you consider which candidates to vote for, and how it might affect the races overall.
