In honor of Older Americans Month, LiveOn NY is proud to partner with F.Y. EYE to launch the SAY YOUR AGE campaign to change how people think and talk about aging and older New Yorkers.
The collaborative media campaign consists of a PSA, video, and participatory photography project that will feature older New Yorkers embracing their age and challenging stereotypes.
Against a backdrop of research that reveals ageism (discrimination based on age) is a reality that impacts older adults with 82 percent of them experiencing one form of ageism daily, SAY YOUR AGE encourages people to speak out. The campaign turns our negative connotations around aging into positive images and features the diversity and contributions of older people. It will feature their stories and counter the stereotypical narrative about aging to advance policies that support us all as we age.
Ageism is pervasive in our society and it impacts our health, our ability to work and our economy. The good news is that there are things we can all do about it.

LOOK OUT FOR THE PSA IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
LiveOn NY created the campaign in collaboration with F.Y. Eye, a NYC-based nonprofit media agency that amplifies social issues. Thanks to a donation from LinkNYC, the SAY YOUR AGE campaign will be shared throughout the city via scores of digital kiosks reaching hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers. In addition to the PSA, the campaign will use a “Participatory Photography” approach to engage community members to use their photos and their stories to promote the change they want to see.

Jump In And Say Your Age
We want to hear from older adults at your Center or organization! Together, we’ll highlight older adults who will “share” or “shout” their age and tell us who they are and what it means to feel empowered to say their age. Actively engaging older people and highlighting positive images and stories can help counter the stereotypical narrative about AGING.
