How to Register to Vote
To check your voter registration status
Online
If you have a valid New York State driver license, permit, or non-driver ID card, you can register online at the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles.
By Phone
Dial 1-800-FOR-VOTE to request a voter registration application in the mail.
In Person
Per the NY State Board of Elections, you may “register in person at your county board of elections or at any New York State Agency-Based voter registration center.”
By Mail
You may access the New York State Voter Registration form online in PDF form in English and Spanish. Accessible versions are also available in English and Spanish. You may print out the forms and fill them out completely by hand in blue or black ink. You may also fill them out digitally on the PDF itself. However, you must print out the form and sign by hand before mailing it to your county board of elections because digital signatures are not accepted.
