Topic Presentation: Community Cohesion through Photography

Speaker: Miriam Leuchter, Executive Director | Josephine Herrick Project

Description: Making photographs can transform people’s lives. For nearly eight decades, the Josephine Herrick Project (JHP) has done just that. We teach photography to and exhibit work by people from a broad range of under-resourced communities in NYC, including some amazing older adults. Join us to explore a few fun and impactful photography projects to see how hands-on photography programs can:

  • Encourage older adults to engage with their communities

  • Get people up and moving

  • Strengthen memory and cognition

  • Create positive self-expression

  • Cross generational lines
